1/ US Wood Pellet Exports in January 2024
- The U.S. exported 742,824.6 metric tons of wood pellets in January, down from 1.01 million metric tons the previous month, but up when compared to the 637,518.4 metric tons exported in January 2023, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on March 7.
- The U.S. exported wood pellets to more than a dozen countries in January. The U.K. was the top destination for U.S. wood pellet exports at 525,500.8 metric tons, followed by Japan at 99,218 metric tons and Denmark at 35,780.2 metric tons.
- The value of U.S. wood pellet exports reached $140.03 million in January, down from $181.34 million in December, but up from $114.66 million in January of the previous year.

2/ US Wood Pellet Exports in February 2024
- US wood pellet exports saw a slight decline in February 2024 compared to January but significantly increased compared to the same period in 2023.
- The U.S. exported 696,692.9 metric tons of wood pellets in February, down from 742,824.6 metric tons in January, but up from 632,043.8 metric tons in February 2023, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on April 4.
- The U.S. exported wood pellets to approximately 18 countries in February. The U.K. was the top destination for U.S. wood pellet exports at 457,710.6 metric tons, followed by Denmark at 129,239.6 metric tons, France at 33,049.6 metric tons, the Netherlands at 31,475.6 metric tons and Japan at 29,967 metric tons.
- The value of U.S. wood pellet exports was at $135.66 million in February, down from $140.03 million the previous month, but up from $117.99 million in February of last year.
- Total U.S. wood pellet exports for the first two months of 2024 reached 1.44 million metric tons at a value of $275.69 million, compared to 1.27 million metric tons exported during the same period of last year at a value of $232.65 million.
